Yes, that phrase will go down in 2M history. If you don't know what I mean you are obviously not from RI so welcome to my blog.
The phrase originated from a movie, Stand By Me. Despite its title, the movie is not about some person in the last stages of some cancer and he/she wants to do a few tasks before her death or something like that. Instead it explores various deep themes and strikes a chord in the hearts of many, when they laugh yet cry at the adventures of the young protagonists to find a dead body. Throughout the movie, the boys are travelling, walking on a train track to find a dead body maybe thirty miles from their starting point. In the day we learn about the characters and their outward behaviours and attitudes, but at night we see their thoughts and their lamentations (lol tim) of the prejudice they face being members of "Lousy" families. Yet when the boys reach the body they found out that their greatest reward was (like cruise liners say) the journey, not the destination. Throughout the movie we grow deeply attached to the characters and care for them. But like real life and friends, they have to move on. Though the 2 best friends are now apart (one died many years ago defending someone from a fight) the other, looking back at his misadventures at a 12-year old, typed this into his computer.
"I never had any friends like the ones I had as a 12-year old. Jesus, does anyone?"
Absolutely touching. Sharing my growing up years with a group of steadfast friends have indeed been memorable and will continue to do so. I hope 2M would be able to keep in touch even after twenty, thirty years from today.
Oh and on a lighter note I watched a movie and stoned for 45 minutes in the library listening to my nice new in-ear earphones while waiting for NPCC to start. Once NPCC started we had fun until I fell down playing soccer... now my leg has some bloody patch on it, like someone ripped a leech off it. Its kinda fun to stare at the wound for some reason.
And I also cut my hair.
AND Please stop calling my mother whenever you can't get me on the house phone. My hand phone number is 81003851 not 92375432!!! My phone's spoilt though so just sms me if you need anything. Don't bother to call it.
Looking forward to tomorrow and some time and motivation to write fanfiction.
