Day 3 (no internet D: )

Mekong River!

We’re at Can To now, it’s some small fishing area west of Cambodia. We came here by coach, but on the way we took a boat ride that stopped by a few spots along the Mekong River, a 1.5km wide river that leads to three other countries. On the way we stopped by at some Buddha pagoda thing, a giant statue of Buddha was there. Did you know that many Vietnamese were Buddhist? Anyway, didn’t take any pictures of the place (didn’t feel right, being Christian and all) but we took pictures of the flowers, which were really quite pretty.

Anyway, the islands!

First was Tortoise Island, an island named so just because it was pretty small. No references to any legends or anything. Had a short tour through a small part of the island, learnt why Saigon was called Saigon. Sai means “firewood” and Gon refers to some useful tree that was widely used in the history of the country, as fertilizer, as food, as construction, even medicine.

Learnt about the island’s culture of breeding fighting roosters, their methods of burial, their love for dog meat, and of course, the sad case of how urbanization has messed with the demographics of the place- there is hardly anyone between 18 and 40 years old there.

Of course, the “hellos”. Us foreigners to them are called Hellos, it’s quite funny! The guide recounted how the local chief will ask him “hey, how many Hellos today?” It’s because the first thing we say to them is Hello! And the only word they know is Hello too!

And of course, their motorcycle culture. Taxes on cars are super high, in a bid to reduce road congestion. Cars take up much more space than motorbikes, see. While a bike can be brought super-cheaply, (about 3-4 thousand), a car costs maybe five to ten times more, excluding the tax which apparently goes up to another 80% of the car price.

This causes a pretty big strata rift between the car owners and bike owners, and even among the bike owners there’s class differences. In fact, so much so that marriage in Vietnam is dependent on your means of transportation. Big bike, = girlfriend, bicycle = forever alone, and car = king. Quite sad really, but at least I know where to get a girlfriend in the future if Singapore girls don’t like me. (:

Oh right. Second Island!

IT was largely a trip of sightseeing on the second island (Coconut Island.. I think! ), we were brought from place to place to experience their culture. Had a performance of some singing and their guitar-like instruments made out of jackfruit tree wood.

Digress abit: It was hilarious to hear our hotel playing old western music during our breakfast! Because they were playing music from the vinyl disc era, heard a couple of breakbeats being played, was pretty hilarious, especially when my parents started reminiscing about the past and how they liked those music. I started beatboxing and they stared at me funny.

Lunch was on the islands too! Their fried spring rolls are fab. Had an awesome looking fried fish that was eaten by wrapping in vegetables. Not that nice, but the presentation was worth it. Heh.

Beers are super cheaaap there~ like, 80cents! Been drinking it more than water hahaha.

After that, went to a coconut candy factory (I say factory loosely, it’s more of a family of people working by hand with about two machines in operation.)

Here on the island, they produce coconut candy from scratch (ie, the coconut from the tree) and it goes through a somewhat simple process of extraction, mixing with caramel, cooking and then cutting. The speed where they do it is pretty intense tho. And it tastes awesome when it’s hot! Cut a few myself haha whoo.

Extraction is just simply breaking a husk of a browned coconut and putting it in a grinder to extract the white meat inside. The coconut water can’t be drank already, but apparently it’s great for bathing sensitive skin! Just like beer. They do love their beer, don’t they? Our guide said he was bathed in coconut water when he was young. Other richer families use beer. XD

After that it is washed and compressed to extract coconut oil and coconut milk! The oil will float on top, it’s skimmed and exported. The milk is combined with caramel, cooked for an hour or so, and then it’s done. Another household makes the rice paper through a similar process, and the first family uses the rice paper to wrap the shaped and cut coconut candy. Rice paper is the edible transparent film, you would recall them from the “white bunny” sweets.

After taking a long car ride back across a 3km long bridge, we were back to a new hotel for R&R in the evening, had a pretty cool dinner! Barbequed snails and crocodile meat. (:

Oh and three beers.

They didn’t have internet though, pretty pissing.D:
---

Day 4:

Back to Saigon!

Woke up in the morning feeling like P.Diddy.

A P.Diddy feeling freaking sleepy.

Supposed to wake at 5am, as we had a floating market to explore. But my mum’s alarm rang at 5am Singapore time, which is 4am Vietnam time. So we woke an hour early and had to sit around in the lobby waiting for breakfast.

Breakfast was a hurried meal of beef stew and bread. Quite oily! But all Vietnamese food I’ve eaten so far is pretty oily, so I’ll have to be consigned to praying for clearer skin.

And we were off! Back on the main bus with the chio angmoh (seriously, one was super pretty!) and we went back to the river to catch the floating markets in action.

The river access and the proximity to Cambodia means that almost 30% of the traders were not locals, and in fact many of them were large-scale traders! They don’t buy for their household use, but for their businesses, maybe a hundred or two hundred kilos of goods at a time.

Anyway, the first river market was that type, and the boats had a healthy mix of sanpans, double-deckers and metal craft.

Hang on, where’s my notebook? I wrote down some noteworthy stuff.

Oh right. The door with the heart graffiti! The boat brought us along the river, and all along the banks were buildings, homes on stilts. Most were old and tin-roofed, pretty much run down. Admist the junk and clutter, one solitary tin door had a single heart spray-painted on it.

--warning, bullshit ahead----

Something so commonplace, something so ordinary as graffiti jumped out at me, just like that. Admist the beauty around me, the sharp contrast of the starkness of the single shape against the clutter around it provided a beautiful frame for the message of strength and love.

It was the ordinary-ness of the thing that drew my attention. Like a rose standing defiant in a plowed field, it is a testament of the power of love to stand and take root anywhere, be it in a dingy stilt-tin-shack on the banks of Mekong River, the colorful walls of Los Angles, or the tree on a hill at the back of a small town. The heart shape is universal, and looking at that door transported me to a hundred, a thousand different places and times of love and strength.

Plus, it was a pretty arty photo moment, provided I had the gadgetry to take a picture.

Okay stupid chiayoon tell me faster blog. Hrmph.

Alright, so we arrived at the market! First thing to greet us was a small sampan with a smaller outboard motor operated by a mother, and her two young children at the front. They were waving and smiling, and shouting Hello! Us tourists were so taken with them we started taking photos.

Then they suddenly adopted a serious face and saluted!

We all but melted from the cuteness.

And we bought a couple drinks from them.

Their way of making a sale is pretty unique! Drive up next to your boat, grab a hook and hook anything you have sticking out of the boat, and then cut their motor and drift alongside showing their wares. They sell everything from seafood to vegetables to even hot coffee! Saw a boat cooking and selling noodles. Crazy..

We went to another boat, who sold us coconuts. It was super cheap! Like 5k dong. That’s 30cents?

Oh, and their currency is the dong. One thousand dong, two thousand dong.

Guys, stop snickering.

Went to another market, nothing much happened.

On the way back, I sat with some Englishman haha. He was bloody funny, swearing left and right, and being happy about the cheap beer here. Their colloquial terms are hilarious, like “I spent the flight getting piss-drunk” and “then I was like, fuck it, ya know?”

Plus the accent is sexy.

Westerners are such free sprits! He’s 20+, came by himself for 3 weeks, no idea what to do here, probably gonna go find a train to a beach to kitesurf.

I like his style.

My ass hurts from all the sitting, gonna go take a bath and sleep.

Heading back home tomorrow! Singapore, watch out. (:

Day 2:
Cu Chi Tunnels!

Woke up early, went for breakfast! We had a place to visit today, the Cu Chi Tunnels, an iconic battleground during the Vietnam War and a symbol of Vietcong guerilla warfare.

Breakfast at the hotel was pretty decent, and for a tiny three-star hotel, we were very impressed by the décor of the place, and how they managed to utilize the super tiny floor space to the best benefit.
Cu Chi Tunnels! Went on a small minivan with 6 others from the same hotel (Queen Ann), and that minivan joined up with another tour bus! It was quite a cool arrangement, which meant that to give greatest flexibility, our tour was not organized by a single agency, but rather just joining other travel groups who happened to go towards the same area at a certain time. Today’s travel was with TNC travel agency.

The bus had a lot of westerners! Prettaee~

Okay. So what is Cu Chi Tunnels, and why is it so signifigant?

Cu Chi was a farming village north of Saigon, and it provided some vital path to the city and neighboring American bases if I’m not wrong. However, shelling started, and the farmers were forced to dig tunnels to hide from the mortars.

From farmers they became soldiers, and they put up heavy resistance to the American forces with their complex, tiny, booby-trapped tunnels, hundreds of kilometers in length, dug by hand with a small bamboo basket and a hand spade.

The tour brought us to the village of Cu Chi, where traces of trenches were still visible everywhere. The smell of cordite hung in the air- punctuated by the sharp reports from a nearby war-weapons shooting range.

First stop was a video showcase, where we sat in a hut the size of a large classroom, and a video was shown to us to give a general outline of the history. It was quite a refreshing change from the usual American version of the events, and it was pretty funny to sneak peeks at these gweilos every time the heavily accented narrator talks about the peaceful village being razed by American bombs.

There was a cutout diagram of the tunnel system, pretty cool! The tunnels were broadly classified into three levels.

First level was 2-3 meters underground. This was the living quarters, and ambush areas. Concealed exits too small for Americans (but about right for Vietnamese) were scattered everywhere, in every household, in forests, in neighbouring villages, even 70 km in the city of Saigon itself. How the digging was done, I have no idea. Sheer grit and determination. :/

Second level was the stockpiles, bomb shelters, and booby traps.
Booby traps are crazy. But that’s for later.

Third level was the escape routes, the long-dist tunnels, and entrances to the Saigon River.

Overall, it was a pretty self-sustaining feature, with wells and escape routes within the tunnels. By day, they were local farmers, by night, they turned into the Vietcong, fighters for liberation. They developed a saying: A rifle in one hand, and a hoe in another, that’s the spirit of the Vietcong warrior.

Okay I digress.

Next was a visit to the tunnels! We went down one of the concealed exits (it’s really like, concealed into the forest floor you know) and found super narrow paths la! Have to do some kind of duck-walk to get through, and it totally kills the knees. Without some electric lamps, it’ll be completely pitch—black. Quite scary! My mum was freaking out after about 10 meters, and we left the tunnel the next exit. Or not it would run up to about 150 meters.

We saw the traps next. Pretty gross stuff. Most were concealed animal traps made larger for human purposes. There was the traditional bamboo spike-pit trap, a few traps that drove iron barbs into you as you fell through, a really devious one called the rolling log (two logs with short spikes sticking out, so if you step on one and try to step away you’ll just fall into the other) and another with a variation of a seesaw with spikes.

The tour guide activated each on in turn by prodding a stick through, and it was really quite disturbing. All the iron barbs are made like fishing hooks, with a wicked backward-pointed barb that causes serious damage when attempting to pull out. Hope to get pictures out soon!

Hmm what else what else.

They made shoes! Vietcong sandals. Made out of truck tires. They’re surprisingly sturdy and comfortable, and best is that they don’t use any glue! So it’s practically impossible to spoil. Most of the security guards in the area also wear these sandals.

Went back, shopped abit, and now yeah, it’s pretty late. Going Mekong River tomorrow, hope there’s internet access there!

Holiday time does seem to run quicker.

It seems like it’s only 11pm, but actually it’s 12!

Oh right, cause of the time difference.

Here I am, sitting in a hotel room with a laptop in my lap and a tenuous internet connection. I’m on holiday with my parents and my grandma, which means that the bulk of communication I’m going to get is in Hokkien, which I sadly don’t understand.
That does leave me much time to type, to let my mind wander, to fully absorb the sights and sounds of this wonderful, unique place.

Day 1:

Ho Chi Minh!
Pretty awesome experience to be back in Vietnam. The last time I was there was filled with great memories, during my OIP trip. This time, we’re in the grand old city of Saigon, or Ho Chi Minh.

Was super tired when I woke up, didn’t get a great sleep the day before (That’s another story for another time) but I guess nothing’s as invigorating as a cold shower at 4am. (:

Picked Grandma up at her house, went to the airport, (cab fare was like.. 30!) and went to budget terminal!
Was quite cool, despite being a so-called budget terminal.

Went on the plane, knocked off straight away and only woke up about 2 hours later during landing.

Some angmoh guy beside me had a Kindle, he had some problems with it. I was holding my book and feeling smug heh.

By then, it was about 9am, and the rest of the day was free! The tour agency sent a cab to bring us to our hotel, and then we were supposed to go free and easy for the rest of the day.

First time for all of us being tour-less, and could tell that we were all quite excited!

Asked the concierge where to shop, they directed us and made broad gestures saying “big shopping very close!” in heavily accented English.

Following their hand signs, this unlikely quartet left the hotel into the crazy streets of Vietnam.

We walked for ages, I tell you.

The stupid shopping centre (It was more of a bazaar, like Bugis Street messiness combined with Mustafa variety.) was like freaking far away la! Walk and walk and walk. Stopped for free ice-cream, (some shop had a promotion) and we reached the place. Saw awesome dance shoes in a shop along the way, but didn’t stop and look. Kinda regret it now, cause the bazaar didn’t have any, and we didn’t find the shop on the way back.

Had my first pho ga in 2 years (chicken noodle soup)! Felt nice. The food’s definitely cheaper here, but not by much. Or perhaps it was because these are tourist traps. Vietnamese have a habit of bringing their own utensils, I think! Saw quite a few eating who brought their own. I guess it’s cleaner that way. Good for the environment too.

Went back laden with stuff, got a taxi (we were ripped off haha, paid 20plus sing, for a ride that should have cost about $4. But it’s okay la.

The rooms are nice! May take a picture.

Dinner was at a restaurant nearby, who was obviously catered to tourists. Food was surprisingly cheap, had beef soup hotpot, claypot rice, and some cool rice vermicelli springroll wrapped in herbs and lettuce. Cost about $4 each, including our drinks. They were playing a cd that had the “happy birthday” song in all the major languages. Korean sounds cute.

And now I’m back in my room, feeling prettyyy tired. Long day tomorrow, the tour’s starting!

-----------
Should I blog about the camp?

Bleah, tired. Let Zanthe do. (:

Nightoes, Singapore! I’ll be back in 5 days.

You better get better looking ladies okay! Vietnamese are pretty. (:

Had a new dream. Was QUITE DISTURBING so I didn't feel like writing it down. I'll just summarise it abit.

1st part:

Halloween! Our school had some survival camp in a forest. We were in small groups, crawing through undergrowth, trying to be as stealthy as possible. Why, I don't remember.
The next scene was of a giant stage in the forest, and the rest of the "school" was already gathered. There were a few people on stage, what I understood to be the school board, and they were all dressed like, or were actually monsters. I noted that the guys all were vampires. Maybe it's more classy then werewolf that's why.

Then an external person came, he did some complicated choreography which we couldn't follow. He then laughed and said he was just proving that he was capable (of what? I remember feeling it was not dance related). He then changed into a vampire too.

Remember cooking something (chicken?) by placing tinfoil over a brick, then using a flamethrower or something.

Okayyy whatever next.

2nd part: the weird shit.

Next, it was IHC! INTERHOUSE CHAMPIONSHIPS.

But it wasn't just any event.

It was interhouse warfare.

Each house assembled at a different area, and all of us had a choice of weaponary to take. Most of us took assualt rifles.

I'm not sure what happened after that, but I lost my rifle, and bumped into mike on the way. He told me of an excellent spot where people didn't see you till it was too late. It was a broken staircase of sorts, extending halfway down from the second storey to the first. Hiding there, you could pick off people who walked right by you without looking back.

So there I was, holding a fistful of keys, wondering if I would be able to jump on any non-MTian and ram the keys into their throats. Some girl was giving me cover from another angle as well, I forgot who. But she had the rifle, I let her keep it instead of me.

Nice to know I had morals even in these shitty dreams.

No one was killed though, and we went back for debrief. The death toll was pretty bad, we were passing around an attendance list, only about half was still there.

And it was only half-time, we went to another room, this time stocked with grenade launchers, carbines, and other huge weapons that I didn't know about.
---------------------

I woke up.

Crazy dream, right? I'll analyse alll my previous dreams soon, just to give myself a morbid christmas present.
-------------------------------

Oh, and strawberries are flattered that people like them, but still, that's no reason to over-eat them. It's not a very balanced diet, and strawberries also get worried when someone craves them for so long. Stop eating strawberries, there's plenty of other stuff out there. (:

I remember having stuff to blog about.

OH YA MARINA BARRAGE HAHAHA.

Awesome! Went there for Learning Journey with all the other Nat Day people, had some talk about history of the barrage, it's really quite cool actually. I like the pride our govt has in such large plans, it's somewhat infectious. Plus they really did a good move by making the tour so interative and well designed.

Of course, for the STREETERSS, the learning journey was after that!

HAHA.

Went out, decided not to wait 30min for the bus, walked in the rain instead. Then we tompang a lorry. Quite fun! Was taking random videos and shizz. squatting at the back of the lorry.

First time for all of us.

Then yoghurt! Awesomeee. Haha lisa very enjoy life. (:

Okai! Next up is OPEN HOUSE AND AUDITIONS. We better get a good intake mans!

May be sticking to this one for a while. It seems like something i'll like.

I know, I know, it's been ages since I've blogged. I haven't been at the computer much, I guess.

*gasp*

Yeah, heh. Been pretty preoccupied with books and other no-life stuff.

-------------

Dance camp was fun! Interacted with mostly juniors, had alot of fun with the boys, with Wenying. Made some new friends. Bbq party in December? Set ah!

Love the hoodie too. (:

Birthday!

Really love the well wishes, appreciate them a lot. To be honest, I don't really care much for the presents. It's just that I appreciate knowing that I mean enough to some people for them to consider what I would really like. It really shows the care some people have towards me, and I'm very grateful for that.

Especially like to thank islandcreamery and zanthe. You know what you all did, and I really appreciate it.

--------------

OP!

Quite okay ba. Hehe. Our group was kinda grilled by the examiners, but it's okay! We pulled through.

THANKYOU WEIHAO (:

Watched movie after that! Due Date. Quite funny. But exceedingly random.

In fact the next few days was spent watching movies too. And of course, East Coast. Easily one of the most memorable of East Coast trips. Cycling in the rain ftw. (:

Oh no I'm becoming scandalous. D:

Dream 1: There were two variations to this dream. I call it that beacause, well, same location, two events. Quite new for me, so haha it was quite interesting.

Me and louis were running towards the MRT ticketing machine. It wasn't a MRT station i've seen before: it was circle line, but it was brown marble and geometric L shapes. There were also only 3 ticketing gates.

Somehow, was racing louis to the machine, but we collided (i was in front, but have to fumble for my card) and we weren't sure who tapped their card. lol. Anyway, I was then called over to control, who helped me scan my card again. So I went through the gate, then realised I left my bag on the other side (like in airport security, youknow? Need to put in the basket.) Had to sneak back and retrive my bag.

After that, went to the mrt, zanthe was there, louis wasn't.

---------

Second variation involved some despo girl. Lol. Won't go into the details, but we were in some MRT (it went both red and green lines) and it was the wrong train for both of us. Then some guy called Elias came up, looked like the guy from 爱, the 7pm weekend show. Claimed to be the girl's boyfriends's brother and told me to lay off.

They got into some arugment about if he really was her boyfriend, but i took the opportunity to ditch her. Phew.

The second variation was narrated much like a book, was quite cool. Recogonised some stuff from a book i read earlier in the day.

--------------

Second dream:

A boat pulled up to a grey, desolate, neverending shore. It was some sort of expedition, and i guess we had to survive in these conditions, on the bare rocky beach while nothing in the ocean but freaking anchovies. Raiding parties too. Along the other side of the beach lay something we both desired and feared, something drangerous but rewarding. All the raiders have come from there there and it was perhaps the longing for human contact that made us look towards there. We never moced though, and instead worked on building a stable home for the 6 or so where traveled there. Narration was very much gameplay mixed with first person, so I was sometimes viewing a top down view of where to build watchtowers or temples, and directing where the boat could go. At other times I was on the beach scuffing stones into the still ocean, walking around supervising the work, and talking to ther other people.

The girls had really pimped out thier wooden house tho, racks of high heels and shit.

--------------------

Earlier dream:

This was the day where my sister and her friends slept over, so I had to evacuate my room and use my parent's.

I dreamt I woke up at 4plus, saw my sister on my parents bed playing around with some lighter and candles. My parents were not there. Went to sit beside her (she WAS going overseas the next day) and played with my phone for a while. Started humming random songs while she continued whatever she was doing, i think making presents? I started singing Yi Zhi Du Xiu from Show luo, because I happened to be wearing sunglasses and fingerless gloves. At 4am.

Went to play the video on my phone using wireless interenet. But it was pretty soft. I asked my sister if she knew how to make the lighter flame brighter. She didn't, so I took it and helped her make bigger. I did the same for my phone volume too. (NO FREAKING IDEA HOW).

Played with candles for a while.

=======

OKayyyy gonna go study bye~

I realised that my dreams have creepy and violent tendencies.
-----

Me and Kate grew up together. Best of childhood friends, we evolved from friends to lovers during our preteen years. How, I'm not sure. Love's funny that way, right? Whatever it is, we loved each other, and we swore the world to each other.

Then she disappeared.

-------

The dream begins years later, when I had become a young adult, definitely older than what I was now, I guess. But that remains to be the seen. Somehow, Kate had returned, and I don't know how we knew. But whatever it is, I was going to meet her that night, in my parent's bedroom. I guess we wanted to celebrate her return more privately, just the two of us, without any parents or friends fawning over her.

It took forever of pretending to be asleep, what with my parents walking in and all (their bedroom after all) and finally my parents stopped checking on me and left the door sht. I was alone.

I glanced up at the mirror above the bed, and sure enough Kate (Was that her name anymore? It sounds weird.) was there, peeking out from behind the reflection of the bedpost.

I smiled and turned away (I wasnt supposed to see how it worked) and with a woosh and a thump she was beside me. Snuggled and talked abit about life and stuff.

Suddenly, the bathroom door creaked slowly open, loud enough to be audible, soft enough to be creepy.

My mum was there. Torn dress, messed hair, standing expressionless while the bathroom light flickered behind her.

We stared at each other for a couple seconds and then the door swung back shut.

-------

We went back to talking.

The door swung open again. Now my mum's hair was grey and frazzle, and she kept the same expressionless face.

The door swung back shut.

We went back to talking.

The door swung open again.

"SHEESH MUM!"

"Sorry!" She said, walking out of the toilet and beside the bed to pour herself a drink of water. She had a mud mask on now and looked hilarous out of the flickering bathroom light. "Just didn't know that your friend was here."

-------

The scene changes into a map view that zooms into off the coast of some unpronunceable area. A swamp. Me and the girl was having a holiday or something there, wading through the swamp and looking at the vegetation with a guide bringing us around.

Something brushed her leg and she screamed, and immediately the guide brought us up above water for a while. He explained that there were lots of Ebi fish in the water and that they were transcluent eel-like creatures. (They're not, but bleah it's a dream!)

I plucked out a small splinter from the sole of my foot and went back into the water to finish looking at the sights.
---

Back in my bedroom after the day, I was turning into to sleep. I remembered the splinter wound and the dirty swamp water. Bettter disinfect, I thought. I looked at my foot, and omg.

The wound had increased to a larger than a 50-cent gaping hole in my left foot, something you could put two fingers into.
And you really could put two fingers in. The foot was semihollowed out on the inside, red raw flesh half an inch inside the foot and some mass of stringy purple shit right at the visible corner in the flesh inside. (So you can like put your finger in till the first knuckle before it touches the flesh.

Gross. I wanted to like put a plaster over it, but realised the hole was too big.

Then I looked at my other foot. Turns out that there was probably a cut there in the balley between the large toe and it's neighbour. There were the same stingy bits of dead purple flesh hanging out of it.

Wondering if I could pull out the infected part, I looked closer.

They were fucking moving.

Worms! I licked out and a few dislodged, with a splat onto my bedroom floor. Squinted abit at them, sure enough, they were moving ever so slightly.

Then I thought about my hollowed out left foot with the mass of carnivorous worms nestled deep within.

Spent the next 30 minutes of the dream in the toilet spraying water into my foot trying to dislodge them. Hurt like hell.

---------

Next Dream!

Flooded pond in a park. Fun times! No worms. There was some sort of water-part going on, and everyone was having fun. I still didn't dare to try backflips.

I was helping move stuff over to dry land, there were boards, chairs, etc. Everyone was swimming or boating.

Then some missile exploded above the park and the heat dried up the water. ):

I'm having weirder dreams now. Sheesh.

The scene draws in in third person to a lone man in a immucalate grey suit walking down a hotel hallway, cane in hand. Think Dorrian Gray from Leauge of Extraodinary Gentlemen in the Inception Hotel.

He stopped, turned at one of the doors, and opened it.

Empty.

Shrugging, he continued to the next door, opened it.

There was something haha but ican't remember. Related to a picture. That's why I thought Dorrian Grey.

------

The third door was opened to a room, smaller than expected, coverend in antique tapersty themed-wallpaper, with strong incense and of course a old woman sitting at a round table with a deck of tarot cards fanned out.

"It's too late," She smiled, taking a sip of steaming coffee from a cup. To Grey's horror, the cup was CHIPPED!

Somehow that meant alot. So Grey rushed to the window, flung it open, and looked down. There were people milling below in grey uniforms and holding primitive automatic weapons. It seemed like something was going to happen, and soon.

Grey jumped.

----

Standing in the streets of some Cuban town I couldn't quite pronunce, the LEGENDARY SWORD or something like that slung on my back, I watched as a crowd of soldiers carrying these weapons hurried towards (some away) from a large pagoda like structure. Didn't seem good.

Then BOOM!

The pagoda thingy exploded in a rush of flame and from inside crawled out a large DRAGON!

Proceeds to flashback to the times where my old mentor was a blue dragon and was killed by this large red green dragon against a tree on a grassy hill when I was young.

----

Then I took the sword and killed the dragon.

---

I was standing opposite Chenwei. He was dressed in white.

"Let's not fight," I said. "I mean, all the good guys will win at close combat but the bad guy wins at weapons. This isn't fair. We don't have weapons!"

"Let's go!" He challenged.

HAHAHAHA THEN GET THIS! HE HOPPED ON THE FREAKING SPOT TWICE IN A CIRLCE.

Then we traded a few blows and I started laughing my ass off.

"Why the hell did you do that!"
"Do what!"

"The Poink Poink thing!"

Then i woke up.

Shopping with some girl, not sure if I knew her before. But somehow, in the dream, she i guess seemed like that perfect girl that all guys look for. Cute, fun, able to relax and talk, able to mess around and understand sick jokes, the type that just feels right when she's in your arms. We were shopping in some large shoppnig centre singing Jay Chou songs and hiding behind clothes racks. And PDAing alot. lol.

Walked out hand in hand after that, on hindsight it looked like the place outside Toa Payoh NTUC. It was late already, at least 8pm, and it was pretty quiet. But I had to tell her that I wasn't ready to commit.
-----

Aiya actually the dream became quite detailed. But it suddenly feels very personal. So cut forward.

"Beware of men who are implusively spontaneous and romantic."
---------

Scene subtly changed, was still night, was still orange lights and grass, but we ended up sitting at a stone table+bench. Studying i think. Like those along parks. The girl became zanthe. ._.

Some annoying malay/indian dude came along, asked Zanthe for something in her bio notes. I was quite pissed with that guy. We started messing with each other, suanning his face off. In the end I told him to go to hell. ._.

He started talking about slippers and commenting on the fashion styles of slippers.

I KNOW LA IT'S A DAMN WEIRD DREAM.

Then after we dao him for a bit he continued talking to another dude who was leaning beside a billboard thing (the bus stop advertisment thing) near the benches.

I asked zanthe "he's gay right?"
"Yes. Heh."

------------

Third dream was damn bloody offensive.

It's quite sexual, so not typing much here. It's just quite disturbing la.

A bboy gathering along some huge superhighway. Maybe doing some type of tv show. Someone came along and.. did... stuff to the bboys. Like bloody disturbing stuff. Bboy physicx. D:

Ended up somehow I was involved, and I beat the shit out of the guy who did it back in his house.

Weird violent tendencies.

"You want bubble tea, I want bubble tea, he wants bubble tea. So we get together and sell bubble tea to each other...?"

Jellyfish!

Wood!

"He poor right? He need job right? So he need entreprenuership right?"

"Urm, yeah we FIND her BEST!"

I <3 our PW group soooo much. (:

------------

Awesome times. It's really disheartening everytime we sit down 8,9 hours mutiple days in a row and only get tiny results, and even THAT gets short down. But having a great group like ours just makes up for it.

Hope no one's too stressed out over this PW madness, becky, kashen, weihao, lakshmi pull through okay!
---

Mike is REPRESENTIN' RJ STREET Black Mirrors Crew at SGBBOY CHAMPS!
I'm damn proud of him, and I'm damn proud of the effort he's put in. His hard work is really.. wow.

I guess breaking; and I mean REAL breaking, the style, the groove, the self expression and originality, they don't come easy. Sure anyone could do a Nike or a forearm freeze or any of those cool blowups, but to sit down and train your footwork for hours..

Man, that's dedication right there.

He's a dopeshit bboy and an awesome friend, and I owe him half my life.

OH CHECK THIS OUT.

http://2lols.com/lookalikes/

Hey guys!

Today was awesome dance day. (:

STEP UP + ESPLANADE + SUNTEC COMPETITION!
------------

Awesome shizzle.

I had a couple of dreams lately. Been harder to remember them though.

Yesterday's one was weird ttm. 4 streeters in a toilet.

Can't really type it here, but it was a Royston Tan-ish dialouge setting that really makes you look at growing up and how children sometimes try too hard to be like adults.

Deep shit, but distrubing shit.
--------

Wednesday 18th August:

We were on a batch outing of some sort, a mass walk thing at night. It was a cool misty night, and we were walking in single or double files along well-worn pathways through forest and grassland. Seemed like a place more suitable for an army march, but there we were, a large group of RJ kids slowly making our way forward, each whispering quietly to the friends they were walking with.

It was a REALLY cold night, it seemed. you could see your breath, and the ground appeared to be crunchy with frost, making distinctive rustles above the faint murmur of voices in the otherwise silent night. In some places there were large pools of water that had frozen over, and I either sidestepped them or tread gingerly on them, unsure of the strength of the ice, and for that matter, what lay beneath the surface..

I was tired, and falling behind, letting my friends pass me and continue their walk. The road looked so eerily beautiful, but so long, so mysterious. I wanted to go on.
Then my old teacher came along (I'm not sure if he was my teacher, but i knew instinctively in the dream world that he was an old teacher)
"Sir! I'm tired, why is the road so long!"
"Don't worry about being tired or how long the road is. Just skate."
"Skate?" I asked, even though I immediately knew he refered to the pools of ice. I looked at the path again, and sure enough now the entire path was covered by a thin faintly glowing sheet of ice. My friends and batchmates continued trudging along.
"Yes, it's perfectly safe!" He assured.

And I was off. Skating (More like sliding) on the ice, it was great fun and I made my way quickly past all those who overtook me before. The wind whipped my face and it felt great. I saw images of Ngee Ann Poly in my mind as a small abandoned vine-covered school, though I'm not sure if it was my destination or just near the path I was taking, in a small clearning surrounded by trees. I also passed what seemed to be a reservoir of shimmery phospherent water, with a quaint red Chinese boat bobbing off the quay partly visible through the white mist in the dark night. It was really pretty.

Soon the grassy footpath changed to become more forested, and the path while straight started to be framed by thin, garled, tall trees. It got darker than ever, the sort of dark purple we see late at night, but a lot more foggy and with stranger lights glowing around trees.

It was in here that I met David.

I said hi, and immediately my phone rang.

And my right buttcheek hurt like crap.

I fell to the floor while scrambling for my phone. (It REALLY HURT.)
-----------

Dream 2:

It was after dance prac at the Studio, a bunch of us were just sitting around the back of dance studio (The blue mat areas), stretching and talking abit with steffi. The topic switched to some members of street, and strange characters started walking through the DS door every now and then. I remember a fat black African American woman in a white dress, but there was definitely more than one.

I was talking to Yuhan in a small room with random stacks of cardboard boxes. In the dream I thought of it as some part of the Dance Studio. Perhaps it was part of the same dream.
-------

Dream 3:
I was interogating someone in a house/bar setting, in any case we were seated at a bartop. The person was charged with murder, of this guy called "Helger" and a subsequent person, perhaps the witness to the first murder.

I was tricked quite badly by her. Never got anywhere. Asked her about what happened on the day itself, and she herself didn't mention much that I remember. What I remember though, is trying to get her to talk about her day, every detail, and I had a very vivid image of her in an MRT, buildings whipping past visible through the window, her arms folded across her lap serenely.
-------

But it was very distracting. A TV show was on, it seemed, and we both paused every now and then to watch the show and only continued the pathetic attempt at integorration during commercial breaks.

Pissed.

I'm not sure if the school even notices me.
Or if that's just their way of saying that I don't deserve to be here.
Do I even belong here?
Frankly I think not.
What I said in my interview is 100% true though. I won't mind at all.

-------

*gets over it*

okay whee! Spa tmr. Rather, today. I have to mug and do my maths tutorial.

AND I HAD A REALLY REALLY COOL DREAM.

Will type it tomorrow.

lala.

Nope tagboard isn't up yet. I'm a lazy dude. (:

Not like anyone tags anyway heh.
-----

DANCE PRAC TODAY! After AGES I tell you. Been looking forward to do one of the suddenly famous Steffi pracs.

Oh hot damn. She is some closet bodybuilder.

Heh I can see pracs being very fun with her taking charge. She's like this cute ball of dopeshit energy that leaves you surprised every time. Why am I fanboying my instructor. But aiya she's fun and is really willing to be involved with our CCA. Plus she seems like the type that watches taiwan variety shows. So I approve.

---

Heh this is a crazy week, 2 spas, 2 econs tests, GP test, and this weird shit called Functions Tutorial. And EOM and WR.

School is really gearing up for promos though. It's right there in the air: study for promos!
Good luck guys. (: I HAVE DECIDED TO STAY BACK EVERY TUES WEDS FRI to study. Will gym on Sat, Mon, Thurs. (:

Can't wait for Saturday. :/

--------------

Oh and a pretty funny joke. IMO. haha.

My job is so fucking unbelievable. I’ll try to sum it up by first telling you about the folks I work with:

First, there is this supermodel wanna-be chick. Yeah, okay, she is pretty hot, but damn is she completely useless.
The girl is constantly fixing her hair or putting on make-up.
She is extremely self-centred and has never once considered the needs or wants of anyone but herself.
She is as dumb as a box of rocks, and I still find it surprising that she has enough brain power to continue to breathe.

The next chick is completely the opposite. She might even be one of the smartest people on the planet.
Her career opportunities are endless, and yet she is here with us. She is a zero on a scale of 1 to 10.
I’m not sure she even showers, much less shaves her “womanly” parts.
I think she might be a lesbian, because every time we drive by the hardware store she moans like a cat in heat.

But the jewel of the crowd has got to be the fucking stoner. And this guy is more than just your average pothead.
In fact, he is baked before he comes to work, during work, and I’m sure after work.
He probably hasn’t been sober any time in the last ten years, and he’s only 22.
He dresses like a beatnik throwback from the 1960’s, and to make things worse, he brings his big fucking dog to work.
Every fucking day I have to look at this huge Great Dane walk around half-stoned from the second-hand smoke.
Hell, sometimes I even think it’s trying to talk with its constant bellowing.
Also, both of them are constantly hungry, requiring multiple stops to McDonald’s and Burger King, every single fucking day.

Anyway, I drive these fucktards around in my van and we solve mysteries and shit.

Whee!

Doing PW, and decided, that well, since I'm not sleeping anyway i might as well blog abit. Heh.

Heard somewhere that it's better to not sleep than to sleep for less than 1 hr, you'll wake up more tired or smth.

Meh but anyway i'm quite hyper now so i shall not sleep lah.

Actually I can probably finish PW soon but.. haha i'm just going to enjoy myself. The night sky is so peaceful and.. wow, Singapore.
------

3.27am

BECKYYY! SHE NEVER SEND ME THE CURRENT SOLUTIONS. D:

And I bet Wei Hao and Lakshmi went to sleep.

Ooh, I haven't bathed yet.
----

3.58am

This shouldn't be happening.
But she's really cute. :/

------

4.31am

Sian, my computer is REALLY SLOW.

Why ah?

Maybe I should let Weihao take a look hehe.
Haha nolah, I think that it's a terrible thing to take advantage of your neighbours/classmates/friends/family in that way.

Too many times have I seen the doctor in our family giving out free diagnosis everytime there's a family gathering, or calling your cousin who's your neighbour to come and look at your computer.

I've been on the benefiting end most of the time, but i'm aware that well, it's not very polite lah. I try not to ask for help as much as I can heh. Not from family, because they can't say no.

Now i'm repairing my uncle's stereo/tv/radio/dvd players everytime I visit my grandma's house on Saturday. Irritating.

I forsee being annoyed a lot in future, being perhaps the only kid going to Uni in my extended family. (oops. D: sorry i'm offensive after not sleeping. Brain dead.)

------

5.01am

I should start getting ready for school.
To Print or not to print? 10 pages siala.

Oh shit, 10 pages only?

Actually I'm quite worried for PW haha.

Mm, okay printed. Weihao didn't send me anything. Ahwell.
--

5.32am

SHIT LAH MY COMPUTER IS REALLY DAMN SLOW.

I'm so irritated.
Blah. It's okay. I'm early for school anyway. Maybe I'll do some stretching, eat a nice breakfast, go school sleep a bit.

Physics results today right? *nervous*

----

Haha aiya whatever lah. I shall go prep for school.

Oh no, i'm sleepy.

roses are red

wheeee!!!

Dance = fun.

Aiya sorry lah, i'm always posting before I sleep. Which means i'm sleepy and not in much mood to write.

Nevertheless, i should try.

Okay, today we had our Interview Skills enrichment programme! Some was common sense, some was quite smart. I wish the notes were filled up though.

Had alot of balloons lying around, must be the balloon (sp?) sculpting enrichment.
------

Choreographed some stuff today, it's really really fun. Oh and the Taiwan thingy, helping them.. not sure if it was a good idea, but it'll be a great experience to have. Guess i have to be really really focused these 3 weeks though.

OKay yeah, results are coming back soon. I'm pretty worried. Please don't let them take away my Nat Day man.

hey! I'm here, not studying, and going to blog instead!

Went to watch RGCO concert with zhengxi yesterday. It was quite nice, some of the pieces, but a couple were too shrill for my liking. ahwell, chinese instruments.

Was a little weird. But meh.

Totallly didn't study today, shit i really really lack discipline. I'll regret it by tomorrow.

Church was nice today.

yo! back to update about what's been going on.

First,

WE'VE SUBMITTED GPP!

yeah.

urm, so that's a huge load off our chests, at least until it gets thrown back at us still unapproved.
------

Mugging is still going reall slow, wheeew. Finally i'm done with all the iffy bits for physics though, can blast through the next few topics by tonight, well maybe except thermal physics, i still don't get the root-mean-square speed being the root of the mean of the square of the speed instead of the root of the mean speed squared.

Laughed like shit when i read that in the lecture notes.
------

hmm what happened today?

Studied physics with Denise. Horribly distracting, everyone in raja block was messing around. haha.

Fun talking about scandals which i didn't know about. D:

Finished kinematics and measurement. lol. i took 4 hours for measurement. D:

----------

Tmr will finish physics and start on maths!

NO TIME FOR STUDYING ALR!

SHIT.

Maybe i should just pray for the next week.

--------

I don't like physics, most of all. Annoying thing about it is that you need someone to discuss with, or not you'll just get stuck and never know how to do the questions.

But then when you study with another person chances are that you'll get distracted.

Ahwell, gotta work on self-discipline then.

Tomorrow's jitterbugs! I'm gonna sleep early, it'll be a VERY long day tmr, need to chiong out our GPP WHICH IS NOT APPROVED YET WTF.

--------

Ooh! Just remembered. Today had an awesome sunrise. Like, awesome awesome. You can SEE the rays of sun from behind the cloud.. Lazy to upload pics at the moment.

Good luck to everyone for CTs. We will need it.

Lol, and screw the MRT resolution, there isn't time.

340th post. Phew, it's been ages.

----

Watched Toy Story today! It's nice. Haha. But A team is nicer.

--

Aiya shit i'm not studying productively! So many distractions.

Ahwell, tmr will be chionging PW, no time for studying. Saturday's dance, sunday's.. sunday.

Monday Chem test, tuesday to friday will probably be reserved for maths and physics. So chem will have to really finish off by monday.

-------

Econs will have to fuddle the way through.

---

My back hurts like shit, is it because of doing bridges? Damn, it really hurts.

Was followed today by two paparazzo. Not funny, you bimbos. D: HAHA.

----

Had a couple dreams recently. They were really short though, so didn't write them down. The World cup one was awesome though, freaking hilarious.

---

OKay first dream:

What happened was that i fell asleep smsing becky the other time, so i kinda dreamt that the conversation continued.

Can't really rememeber what happened, but we were discussing world cup, the girls were all somewhere and the guys was watching world cup from a laptop in the RI canteen, at those round tables just at the sides of the canteen.

Then it got really stuffy and then we started taking off our shirts, well i remember me and richard did anyway.

Then melody smsed me three or four times with "poke", i was like "stopppiittt!"

Urm yeah, then the guys were running around topless.

----

More recently, me and my dad were in the parking lot trying to turn in into a lot. But a car stopped in front of ours before we turned into the space, and a couple people exited the car, talking to each other.

They then sat on the hood of our car and continued talking.

My dad was like "what the freak." and reversed so they fell down.

He then parked the car.

I told him he could reverse further back.

He did.

---
I KNOW, THE DREAMS ARE SO AWESOME RIGHT.

Swimming and dance tmr! Guess this means i should sleep NAO.

Where did the holidays go? D:

It's almost midnight
A new day's ahead, but then
There aren't many left.

11:27 PM

Tuesday, June 15, 2010
Hmm, it's quite fun to end in a haiku. All mysterious and shizzle.
---

Yesterday was class outing! Had piano before that, so meh, i missed the whole beach part of it.

Caught A Team at Vivo though, it is damn good. Like really, it's funny, it has large action scenes, the characters are very well fleshed out, there's a storyline with more than a single twist, and..

well, yeah. Except for some crazy camera movement at times, it's pretty good.

-----------

After that, every single person zhao except for me and denise lol! So weird la. We went to eat at vivo, well, I ate, and denise ate my bread...

Some tea rice thingy. Quite a cool concept, can try next time. (:

---

Really had quite alot of fun, hung around the skypark for quite some time, playing with the water, lying on the grass, getting sprayed by sprinklers...

It's really a great place to go for a date hahaha.

6O is awesome. (:

hello neighbour yunshu!

urm. okay what else happened.

oh, okay science camp! Fun like hor fun. Like really. We werent that good, the music wasn't quite there, but hey, it's all cool. The batch really enjoyed ourselves, i think.

Turnout for the thri-weekly prac thingum isn't very good so far haha, hope it's better on Monday!

But i won't be there, whoops. XD
----

Realised that the library has nice movies. (:

---

Lost my earphones in 3 days.

----

I can't study with girls.

-----

Cable TV is bloody addictive.

---------

I WANT TO WATCH WORLD CUP.

----

I'm screwed for PW.

--

And physics.

----

Okay yay summed up most of the holidays just like that. (: Well, there's really alot of things i haven't done on my to do list, damnit, but i hope to get at least some in in the last two weeks of the hols. There's really not much time left though. I hope we can do something good. Red-Line MRT running, anyone? (:

I've been like gymming and stuff too, (yeah don't laugh, underweight me is gymming) and well hope that translates to a heavier me.

Studies are seriously very very far behind. Couldn't get anywhere with physics, halfway through chem, not going to bother about econs (will fail ANYWAY) and then there's still maths (and physics, of course).

Then add that to class outing tomorrow, self pracs, self-self pracs, watching movies in the library (HAHA BECKY! :D ) and whoa good luck to me.

---

Acutally i think if i just stop watching discovery channel it'll be all good.

And it's better than my actual phone. lol.

So i'm like trying to figure it out, figure out why not all my messages/contacts can be transfered, and stuff like that.

I'M HAVING AWESOME DREAMS LATELY.

LOVE IT!

----------------

Today, i'mma writing in a narrative style. It's fun, especially when there's parts in the dream i can't remember. I blame not being able to find my dream book and having to type it down in my phone when i wake up.

-

It was just another day.. well, actually it was my day off. It felt good to just walk around on the Moon, instead of zipping around and protecting the citizens here as part of my job as a combat specialist.

(Wtf, i know.)

I was on a beach, enjoying the day with my friend whom i can't remember who, watching the blue sphere that is Earth far far away. But then..

I HAD TO RUSH INTO A ROOM FOR SOME REASON! (I'm giving up the story-line style alr lah. Too many gaps in my dream.)

So, wielding my trusty waterbottle gun, (Looks like a normal coke bottle, you shoot out from the base.) I blasted into one of the brick rooms bodering the waterfront of the beach. Turns out that that was actually a prisoner interrogation centre and i had interruped some form of interrogation going on. It looked like some terrorise. I mumbled my apologies and went out.

AND THEN I HAD TO RUSH BACK IN AGAIN!

Blasting through the wall again, (it must be pretty high-tech to regenerate so fast) I apologised, again, and went to the connecting room, to pee i think.

This time, instead of blasting my way out, i opted to actually use a door, and i entered a corridor and picked a random room to go to. Rasyidah was there, in handcuffs that were so loose she was just slipping them off when i came in.

She had some minor offence, she said, but screw it, i'm going home. You people can't tie handcuffs properly anyway.

I faced a very strong moral dillema then, she was my friend! But i was obligated to shoot her for breach of security. Me being some elite special ops person anyway.

Threatening her all the way, i walked behind her with my gun to her head, until she stopped in front of the girls' toilet.

"I'm going now, i bet you won't dare to shoot me anyway."

I guess, she was right. In a last ditch attempt to scare her though, i swtiched my bottle-gun to secondary fire and launched a smoke grenade just over her head and into the toilets.

Then Yihuan my streetdance ccal ran out screaming.

--------------

PART 2:

Was in a medium-sized shopping centre, shaped like an square, with a huge space down the middle. Something like parts of Far East. Was with denise there, and for some reason we had to evacuate the building. It seemed like a terrorist attack or something. Everyone was streaming down, heading for the underground train systems.

Me and Denise got hopelessly lost, there was like tons of underpasses that lead around in circles. Finally someone pointed to us the way to go, and we ran down the dimly-lit green tile underpass and emerged in a large basement area.
It's like the space under the road overpasses i guess, scruffy vegetation and litter everywhere. There were a few train tracks there, so we had to just follow the tracks out. We were joined by my friend, some guy.

For some reason, we were very much in a hurry, and we had to run like mad. It got scary when a train came, it passed super close to denise as she was stuck between some fat-ass supporting pillar and the track. The train just passed right in front of her and she had to press herself into the wall.

We were all running, but i was really running very slow. Only near the end, i realised that..

HEY! I'M ON THE MOON! I'M LIGHT!

And i sprinted and caught back up. After exiting the basement area, we emerged into a normal street, and joined a crowd of people crouched cautiously on the steps leading up to aa domed round building that looked like the train terminal.

Whoo, the last post was the 333rd post.

Ahwell, anyway..

GRIFFLES!

"Being griffles is NOT cool. It is HOTTTT."

Very freaking hot. Haha.

But it was fun! Really really, the experience of a lifetime. Walking down the red carpet hehe, feeling the joy and attitude that perhaps only Griffles can show, high-fiving the higher-ups in the school board...

It's really really unforgettable.

Thanks yezhou, welras, junlem for everything. Would have died without you guys. (:

---

Tennis!

Realised I still love the game. It's really really exciting if you know what's going on. (:

Boys' doubles was very epic, and for the girls we ended up cheering for this Claire person alot. It's okay, you played really well!

Ryan! Good job! It was a tough matchup for you, and you did what you could. Hope you didn't stress your knee too much, maybe you should wear high socks next time hehe!

-

Oh goodness i'm talking like melody now. haha. ohno!

------

Went home with alvin moses zhengxi. Fun smses. (:

Bye!

-edit-
It hurts, definitely, but it's not something i regret.
It's for the best, i guess.

okay an update!

Whoa, it's been AGEESSS.

okay first 3 things on the adgenda!

Dance Night!
Science Camp!
My latest awesome dream!

---

DANCE NIGHTTT!

The sense of accomplishment, relief, togetherness, was just incredible. Dancing on stage, being with my batchmates and seniors, lifting the back curtain during the breaking segment of Take It Off and seeing every row filled, every seat with the figure of an audience, the almost solid sense of energy present on stage..

wow.

And when the emcee said "introducing the raffles dancers", and we all raised our hands, that feeling was incredible.

I'm a dancer. Regardless of my cca, regardless of if i'm having formal training, as long as i keep this passion, keep this spirit alive, I will always be a dancer. And I will always remember this moment.

I'm sure many other dancers have blogged about this, so i guess there's not much point in expressing myself too much. The feeling is really just so.. indescribable.

----------------

Science camp!

Nothing much lor. Haha. Good luck batchmates! We won't have the J2s along with us for this new chapter in Street, but it's okay! We will do them proud, we will do our teachers and parents proud. (:

---------

Awesome dream!

I HAD THIS SUPER AWESOME DREAM LAST NIGHT.
GUESS THERE ARE BENEFITS TO SLEEPING EARLY. (:

Picture a lush tropical island, a dot in the middle of a endless blue ocean.

The island... OF THE LXD.

Us, the guys in Streetdance, were making our way to participate in the filming. It was a long and difficult journey, but we had made it.

We were walking in a building, just grey walkways and full length glass walls on both sides. We could see the treetops from our walkway, and the gilttering ocean beyond. We finally reached what seemed like a connecting area to the final filming area, and in true Survivor sense I rummaged through abandoned wallets i found in this holding room of sorts. I had the sense that perhaps, for some reason, these people had not made it.

Guess it was really tough getting into the LXD.

There were denominations of every currency, most notably Vietnamese for some reason. Dat wasn't there, so I just kept the Singaporean dollars. Not much.

Anyway, I kept the money, and with a nod to my fellow dancers, I opened the door.

An almost factory-style building greeted us, and it was filled with grey and metal, with shadows everywhere.

Everywhere, except that the air was abuzz with energy and you could feel the quickened pace here.

Immediately we all split up, running to our respective venues to get ready for our performance. I followed rachel and i think clive for a while, then realised that shit, they were going to the Take It Off venue! Not the Icebox one which i was supposed to be at.

Running back, i passed what could be said was the "viewing" room where there was a small audience of what seemed like press, and a large screen was showing the start of the Icebox was already being played. It was a cool roving camera shot of everyone in a frozen pose, with white figures on the floor, and dark figures standing up. It was a japanese-style room, white-brown wooden screens and everything. just as i exited the room to head to my venue, the white figure all did rollback to backflips and the icebox music started playing.

Cursing myself, i finally found the dressing room, but knowing it was too late, i just waited for the performance to end.
------------

After that, it was the JC2 farewell party, i guess?

Not sure why, but i was at a nice long perfect beach by myself in that afternoon, I just knew i had time to burn. Maybe i choped the space for farewell.

It was in every way the perfect beach. It seemed from another time, definitely, with a fallen tree near my area lying parallel to the beach, underwater and already fossilised.

The water was perfectly blue and clear, and I could see all the way into, well all the way. perhaps even 50 meters, until the water got too dark as it gets deeper of the coast. Perhaps it was the same "LXD island"? certianly seems like it. There was nothing in the horizon in sight.

Put my phone down and played songs while i chilled in the water. tide came up later though, and kinda submerged my phone. I took it to somewhere more dry, and realised i had 5 missed calls from some indian in the Dance Night Org Comm.

Whatever it was, it quickly became nighttime, and evryone came over for the farewell. It was largely an emo affair, sure there was camwhoring, but not much. For some reason I was pdaing with SOMEONE like crazy, and kept thanking her while hugging her. And not in the just friends way too. I'm not going to say who that someone is, but it just bothered me abit when i woke up.

We took a MRT back from the island, across a linkbridge that was definitely very high up in terms of altitude. could see a few small islands from the mrt. And somehow it was evening only, (despite being night just now) and there was a really really really awesome sunset going on. It was a pulsing sunset that sent gold shimmers down the horizon, and every pulse was an explosion of orange that faded into purple sky. After perhaps a few of this pulses, I told the seniors to look, and while they looked the sun gave a final pulse and adruptly it became night, and where the sun was on the horizon there was a giant floating platform where a mega-rock concert was taking place. At least 10 thousand people were there, seeing that we could see people from probably like hundreds of kilometers away. Giant screens were there too, it looked it was a Tokio Hotel concert.

Went back, reached Sentosa MRT. (DON'T ASK ME!)
Some teacher asked me hurry up and settle the Dance Night budget.

Another teacher complained that eh! He left his food or some sort in the MRT.

it was already 11pm plus at that time, so my CT Mr Chen suggested dinner.

I thought you would understand. I thought you would see how difficult it was for me.

But i guess not.

But I'm sorry all the same. And for the final time, it's all my fault.

Hi blog, it's been a while.

Since the last time we've met, i think i've changed quite a bit. I'm not sure if anyone knows, but i had quite a few emotional ups and downs, faced quite alot of disappointments, but at the same time i met new friends, learnt new things, and I find myself being able to lead the CCA that I truly love. It's been a confusing 2 weeks, to say the least.

-

Dance night is coming up real soon. I'm starting to see the item shape up, and the potential is really really there. I'm just hoping and practicing hard that we'll have this energy and ability to pull off this closing item. (:

--------
Yen lin complimented me today. It really really really felt good. (: Thanks, if you're reading this.
-

Let's go guys.

Am damn excited about tomorrow. (:

Had a dream. Kinda forgot. Sigh. I didn't put my dream book in my room. Noted down some keywords on my phone though.

Epic dancing and mugging session. Cafe, mannequin, Mr Chen. Wasp in light blub. HSM. Shop windows, brown parquet floor.

The holidays have been pretty slack. Hah.

Back to the daily grind then, tomorrow onwards.
----------

I'm doing lifts for Dance Night!

Need to buff up.

Need to buff up.

----

I have nothing to blog about!

---

Did you know that I had this blog for quite some time?

Yes, i guess you do. Looking at the archives.

Wow, it's really been ages. Has it really been that long?

Teenage years are going by so fast.
---

There's alot of the irritating flies that are attracted to light in my living room.

I remember when I used to feed them to the luohan by flinging them into the fish tank.

----

And I'm reminded of my old balcony back at my house in Keng Lee Road.

OH OH OH OH OH

FREE ASSOCIATION FTW.

I HAVE SOMETHING TO BLOG ABOUT!

-----

CLASS OUTING!

We went super early to East Coast, right. Then it was super cool! I met up with Yannan and Zhiqi at the bus stop. Saw something on the overhead bridge.

I tried to read econs, mainly slept all the way to East Coast. Navigated by the sun. Lol.

Ate macs breakfast! Ate urm, someone's hash brown. Sorry!

Then skated. Realised i was quite bad at it. I was super good back in p4 k! haha.

Fell down near the end. a very clean scrape. Like, only the very top layer came out. remained white for some time before it bled.

Went to Dhobby after that! Sat around for the longest while.

Had HTHT <3 (HAHAHA) with Joey and Lakshmi. Fun!

---

Went off to fetch bee home. (:

Saturday, April 3, 2010
Man, every day i go home and i realise how lucky i am. (:

haha. Anyway..

Today had dance prac! Didn't really feel too good luh. Cause we don't have a venue at all. So we were like dancing outside the mini LT while modern used it. But it's okay! The beautybeast steps are quite good for phototaking. (:

Didn't break today. Strange. I mean, Take It Off by Ke$ha just so makes me want to try hand hops.

Ahwell. But dance prac was abit stone today. I guess partly cause there wasn't much music, and partly cause it was mainly blocking done. But quite productive lah.

Love Icebox and Take it off. They're pretty awesome songs. I want to do take it off lah! the choreo is awesome.

---

And finding costumes now for Dance Night. Ahwell.

---

Went shopping + semi-street gathering at Far East! Didn't buy anything there, but had a few ideas about what I could keep in mind when i buy clothes.

Bought a white hoodie thingum. It's more of a raincoat but meh. Feels like it'll be nice for breaking.

Comment leh! Should i get the black one too? is it suitable for dance night?

Here's the black!

Here's the white! Bought this one.

How's it look! It looks quite like, bulky. But it's actually really thin. Like raincoat. The bottom is quite tight so it just kinda presents a full straight solid front. And it'll like ride up abit and make you look fat when you're dancing. So have to stretch the material? lol.

I LOVE STREETDANCE.

LOVE LOVE LOVE.

LOVE DOUBLE WHACKO.

LOVE THE SENIORS. LOVE US JUNIORS.

Ahh. Forget Raffles Diploma, forget SYF, forget the whole Dance Night issues with Mod Dance, forget that we're just a new and small and under-funded CCA. It's the best CCA ever, because of the awesome people inside.

I'm really quite thankful for the teachers, for our seniors, for Mod Dance, for everyone that enabled the formation of Street. We'll show the school that all these effort was worth it.

Good luck for DANCEWORKS ON APRIL 17TH!
------------------------------

Mm, today was quite okay in class. haha. Was quite sleepy during GP. But woke up during Econs. Quite epic lesson. Our tutor like turned on Limit Break 5 min before lesson ended. We were all left in the dust, and I was laughing cause everyone was like packing alr and she just kept talking faster and faster and cancelling whatever she wrote on the board.

------

Tomorrow's Tuesday!

We all know what that means. (:

BREAKDANCE TIME YO. (:

Danceworks was awesome. Nuff' said. RJ street won Best Choreo, Best costume, and overall CHAMPION.

"easily the best performance i saw today."

Epic win, and thank you J2s.

Dance Delight was pretty awesome too! There's not as many breaking groups as i thought SG would have performing then, but popping locking and all those super sharp moves.. crowd pleaser beat hitters totally.

And first time I saw a dance to You Belong With Me.

Best part was still the judging process. Crazyeeeee. The emcee came up to dance, he's damn awesome. Then he started calling random names, like his friends or other pretty famous dancers in the scene who happened to be watching the show. They just starting doing solos to the music too, so it's like 360 degrees of dancers and pepole doing crazy popping. Then the DJ came up to do too! SO MANY BOYFRIENDS.

Pink Dollar Crew was just crazy high. Haha. And I'm proud to know a part of the choreography! (:
-----

There's a shittttload of work to do thought. GP, chem, physics.? Maths, econs, R@ Raffles..

That's why i'm skipping church today. Sigh.
-------------

But reality check.

Realised that well, I've been letting street and homework take over my life. I'm not paying attention to the other things i love, the people that i love, to God and my family. I guess i'm still trying to find this balance.

So babe, I'm sorry okay? I know i've been pretty much of an ass these, well, these few months even. I'm really glad you've been putting up with me and I really really appreciate it. I'm back now though, and I promise that this time i'll be a better guy for you. (:

I love you. <3

Hmm, today!

Was quite slack. Somehow. We had MATHS TUTORIAL. BUT I DID EVERYTHING ALREADY.

I'm so happy lah. I'm quite glad that maths does become easier with practice. Maybe except P&C. It's one tough lil' cookie.

Anyway today was pretty okay I guess. I haven't lost touch too much with studies over the March hols. I'm glad i managed to study on Thursday, and Saturday (Well, I kinda regret not seeing bee..) But still of course there's alot to be done! I find myself studying and being more disciplined than i was before, so I guess it's good that the RJC environment is so much more... self-motivated? Yeah. I would call it that.

OH, AND I CUT MY HAIR DURING HOLS. IT'S NOT NICE NOW, BUT IT WILL BE LATER. (:

Went to mug for a while at library after Reasearch@ raffles and class exco meeting. Went through basically my Thermal Physics, got jumped by Yuhan and went to catch up with Chinjie and Alvin.

Yes, I'm being very narrative now but bleah.

Then Melody and Zhiqi were so distracting after I went to the canteen that I never studied after 6pm. ):

We took 1 to 10 photos. Haha. So unglam. It's on Facebook!

Danceworks is on Saturday. Good luck people. (:
--------

I'm sick. Will sleep early tonight. First sickness in super long! I hope i don't have to see the doctor.

--------------
PHOTOS!

Hair before. Haha it's quite messy, cause I took it on the morning i was going to cut. So i didn't want to wax my hair before i cut lah. Main thing is that it crosses my eyebrows. Loved that part. (:

Beautiful evening.

BUT there was a ton of flies around the area. One assualted me lah. Flew into my shirt when I was walking with Zhiqi.

MY HAIR! It's short. This is number 8, check out the rest on Facebook!

Some pictures to clear from my phone.

Food!

I realise i eat alot when i'm at home. ._.

I know i know, the fried rice looks disgusting. But it does taste nice! Esp with cheese and lemon. (:
Yeah it's a lot right. Heh I realised too. But I've been eating this amount for lunch just about everyday during the December holidays last year and I didn't gain weight. ):
And I'm eating even more nowadays!
Can you tell what this is?
TADAH!
It's daaaamn nice lah. Heh. Looks pretty ugly though.
And it's super oily.
-----
And on a completely unrelated note, I'm falling sick.. Seems like this will be my first "major" sickness since sec 3.
Please, not now?

Do ya'll want prac on thursday?

Ah. Street dance is so awesome.

Monday tuesday wednesday friday saturday.

Tuesday, March 9, 2010

My first white slip. I've been warned that next time I can't complete my tutorial i'll get another one.

So much for spending 4 hours on saturday doing maths.

Can I cope?

I'm not sure.

I just feel like kicking myself in Sec 3/4 and telling my past self to BUCK UP, DAMNIT.Everything's so fast here, and its just so hard to keep up when you don't have a good base to start from.

Didn't get into any enrichment programmes. ISLE.. what an irony.

Danceworks is coming up. I'm barely staying afloat, with my crap technical skills. I'm a bboy and I can't break. I'm dance hiphop and I can't do waves. I'm in Street dance and I can't remember choreography to save my life.

There's just so much to do, with so little time. And it's only, what, Term 1?

I'm scared.

6:41 PM

Just a short update, since today's an important day.

Happy official 6 months, babe. (:

And unoffical more-than-a-year-already. (:

Love you. <3

sian.

I hate the computer.

Don't even know why I come online lah. Not even fun or interesting to use.

I guess it's just cause i look foward to chatting with the people i like on msn.

------

Streets today was awesome. As usual.

Dance night choreo was like, whaaat?

But i think our street night one quite nice.

:D

Study group after that. Yuhan! Laugh so much omg. Damn NSK LAH HAHA.

Awww, truck.

I'm so tired.

Yay, an update.

Singing super no 1 with Edmond really brings back memories. Secondary school sure was awesome. (: 1M2M3M4M ftw.

But as they all say, life goes on, and all we can do is treasure, remember, and take as much out of life as it passes by so quickly.

Well they don't all say that. That's a sweeping statement that needs to be qualified.

Opportunity cost and the influence of media. Z-axis and dimensionless constants. Orbitals and urm, me and my mother.

Yes, alright. Here in this case, JC life is effectively tough.

So happy! And on my 4th try too. (Well, i removed two grains, but surely that doesn't count as a 5th try. )

------
What do I have due tomororow?
I'm not too sure too.
Crazy lah, JC.
So I'm really glad for Street. Keeps me sane.
In a kooky way i'm at my sanest when I'm rolling around laughing at how awesome everything is, from Mr Hamzar's gold Supras to the choreography that leaves yan ling complaining, or yihuan's expressions when she does stuff with Hamzar. And Stella. and Wei Jie. And Rachel. And TESSAAA. and Dat. And omg so many other awesome people, and that's just the seniors. (:
--
Kay sucked up enough. Haha. Will go do tutorials. Bye!
